Actually, I've heard that it's because people use to think that when a person sneezed, they had demons in them, but the origin of that isn't confirmed. Another theory is that people who sneezed generally didn't live very long because people didn't have enough knowledge of modern medicine. (sorry to be a know it all, I'll leave)
