Can you explain this to me? I don't understand how that applies.
How ironic
y'all can have as much ambition as possible but privilege always wins
u tryna say anything is possible with ambition but I still can't join the army alongside men ☕️
black kids still get killed in the street bc of racist cops, their ambition won't help that at all
girls still get looked down upon and made fun of when their smart, when boys are congratulated
this is a shïtty quote and absolutely does not create a valid excuse to disregard feminism
and for the record - women who seek to be equal with men can have ambition whilst STILL wanting equality
wow thanks
it's not like I want equal rights so why can pursue my ambitions no no
equal rights are horrible!!!1! how dare me actually think of women as people!!
^you have the right to vote. you have the right to privacy. you have the right to speak. how dare you say you are "oppressed" when there are women on the other side of the world being killed?
maybe! I'm! advocating! for! those! women!
this quote doesn't hold up at all. did you make it up? because it shows
^actually I didn't make it up
oh so there are more people who think this way?? someone get me off this planet...
tell me how I'm oppressed.
u don't have equal pay and men do
girls are sexualised and men r not (as much)
simple things like - tampons have tax, and are not provided free whereas condoms are
girls razors are more expensive, sometimes double the price of men's
girls get shît like "take a girl swimming on the first date!!!111!1"
just a couple little things ^
1) as far as I'm concerned i get paid just as much as men. 2)I've never been "sexualised" 3) so? what 4) girls razors have more to them then men's razors do. 5) I've never been asked to go to the pool just so they can see me without makeup.
I asked how I was oppressed.
have you ever seen a Hardee's commercial???
that's called sexualization and it's something feminists want to stop
do you not think that the women in those commercials don't agree to doing that?? that isn't sexualization, that's selling a burger.
I seriously doubt anyone is buying the burgers because of the half-naked women but ok
yes, the women agree to that but that's because our society has convinced them that that's a perfectly acceptable way to make money. people shouldn't be sexualized in the media at all. it's wrong and devalues the people being sexualized
or maybe they like dressing that way??? it's not like they're brainwashed into doing it just to make money.
the public sexualization of any human shouldn't be a thing ever and that's just logical
^i don't see you complaining about all of the men who are "sexualized" on TV
I'm complaining about the sexualization of all people
@c-s you keep asking how you are oppressed as if it's all about what's in it for you. maybe it isn't always about you and many people don't have what you do. that's what you have trouble seeing
the entire idea of feminism is that women are oppressed. I'm only asking how women in America areoppressed.
^by the way, women are everywhere.
PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN YOU ALL KINDS OF REASONS AND ALL YOU SAY IT THAT YOU DONT NEED IT. YOU YOU YOU
maybe you are not oppressed. but we need feminism because many women in other countries need help. they cannot change the brutal things that are happening to them based on gender. you can't live in a small world. you must see the picture
I would think that women who actively fight for all women to be treated as equals to men would be more ambitious than a woman who is happy living in an oppressive and sexist world
1) "as far as your concerned" is not relevant at all, when there are a lot more females working in the US than you. 2) that's lucky you've rn ever been sexualised but a lot of women have and are every single day. 3) "so? what" is bs, people can refrain from sēx but they can't refrain from having their period so it's completely ridiculous that tampons are taxed whereas condoms are provided for free. 4) not true? if u buy a plain pack of razors they're a lot more expensive compared to men's. 5) I don't think you understand, for example - when women post pictures of themselves online usually showing off their makeup skills etc. it's not unheard of that men will often say things like "this is why you take her swimming on the first date!!!"
1)if they don't like how much they're getting paid, they can get a raise or get a different job. noting is going to be fixed by complaining about it over the Internet
2)no one I know has EVER been sexualized. and I know a bunch of people.
3) condoms aren't free. nothing is. places that provide them, such as PP, can only provide them because they get taxes from US citizens. so technically, we're paying for condoms whether we want to or not. at least we have the choice to by tampons or not.
4) you know why?? so the companies can get more money. it's called marketing. it's not there to sexualize women.
5) how is that oppression or sexualization?? you wouldn't want to date someone without knowing what they really look like, would you?? if women are allowed to have standards, men are too.
no offense, but I hope this was auto corrected. because it would be sad if someone wrote something like this, which makes no sense, and sounds incredibly ignorant.
also, I hope you realize you are limiting your own rights. you are of the female gender, right?
I'm not limiting my own rights. my rights aren't given to me based on my gender, but because I'm an American.
how is this a true statement
I never said it was.
why would you post a statement that you believed to be a lie?
I never said I thought it was a lie either.
if you didn't think it was a true statement you wouldn't have said it
you don't know what I think about that statement
is it your mission in life to be difficult to be around? because you sure do a wonderful job. I just wanted to know how this generalization of all feminists actually applies to real life in any way
look I'm just messing with you. yes, I back up that statement. I think that if women are truly strong and independent, they shouldn't need a movement to freely give them what they want. they should have to work for it, just like everyone else.
The thing is, though, women worldwide have to work a lot harder to achieve things that men achieve easily. wanting to be equal to a man isn't a way of saying you don't want to do the hard work. it's saying that you recognize that it's unfair to have to work twice as hard to reach the same level when you have the same level of talent and motivation
feminism is all about proving that women are strong and independent. what better way to showcase that then actually working hard instead of complaining?
well, we went through to world wars without even gaining voting rights so apparently that doesn't work
I know technically women got the right to vote in the 1920s, but that was only white women
*TWO world wars oh my gosh why did I do that
you are aware that those world wars happened on the other side of the world, right??
you are aware that we were actively involved in both of them, right? women kept the economy stable while our boys were off fighting on the other side of the world
well then the women did a horrible job at keeping the economy stable during WWII. ever heard of the Great Depression?
the Great Depression happened before WWII
the Great Depression ended the year WWII started.
yeah, but it wasn't "during" WWII, so it certainly wasn't the fault of the women who stabilized the economy while the war progressed. The Great Depression was initially caused by Germany. they couldn't pay off their war debts from losing WWI, so their government (ran mostly, if not completely, by men btw) started to print more money. this ended up causing major, major inflation for them, and then there was the stock market crash, which wasn't caused by women during the war in any way. I don't think you know what you're talking about in this respect
so, to you, it's all men's fault that the economy was in bad shape?? remember, it was also mostly men who fought for YOUR freedom during WWII, and there are still mostly men in our forces today fighting for your freedom.
no, it's not. I was just pointing out how it wasn't the women's fault like you said earlier when you said "well they didn't do such a great job stabilizing the economy!"
but I mean, it technically is their fault since they were the ones running the countries and all so I mean. sure. it's their fault. but that's only because women didn't have the opportunities to run the economy. Also, the German men didn't fight for my freedom and they're the ones who caused such major European inflation in the first place
