Think about all the times you've noticed someone doing something and appreciated it, without a name or a story to go on. There was a boy who flounced to get his health book at the beginning of class while everybody else did that I'm-so-tired-trudge thing. And eventually I realized that he always moves like that, as if on stage and eternally amused. I noticed this slow, thoughtful manner a girl always spoke in and how eloquently she got her point across, stumbling included. There were some teenagers outside of my window the day after Irma, barefoot and grinning at the wind, just messing around by the tree line and checking out the damage and something about their laughing at the novelty of it stuck. None of those people were doing anything unautomatic. They were being their day-to-day selves. But they were memorable.
