Why do you find Maizono trying to murder Naegi "cute"? There's nothing cute about trying to get everyone to believe Naegi is a killer, which would cause EVERYONE TO DIE EXCEPT HER.

Kirigiri and Naegi are a popular ship because they trust each other, Kirigiri saves Naegi when his punishment fails, and they generally seem more attracted to each other.

Maizono is just clingy and annoying because the only thing she does is cry about being trapped. She obviously wouldn't care if Naegi got punished if her plan did succeed, since her actions show that she only cares about herself

They weren't really that close. Maizono was closer to Leon before their memories were erased. On top of that, their memories were erased, meaning they don't remember any of the time they did spend together. They never became close after, they just switched rooms because Naegi felt bad for her.
