CORRECTION: it’s rose_panda (SORRY FORGOT THE UNDERSCORE AGAIN...)
OOOh love this quote
I’ll be annoying and whip out some Descartes: technically you only know you exist (“I think therefore I am”) but you do not know if you are a human or not. you cannot prove that you are a human being. you can only prove that you exist. whether you are a fish or a spirit or a brain in a vat no one knows.
*spits mind out*
lol Descartes is a modern French philosopher
I WANT TO THINK IM A HUMAN
I want to define myself
*whips hair*
you can think that way but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true
*whips papers on descartes and throws them all in trash and JUMPS UP AND DOWN*
you only know that you exist, as what, however, you don’t know
^^^ eh I’m good with that
😂
a branch of philosophy called skepticism which is basically to doubt everything.
it’s quite interesting actually you should read Descartes and other philosophers
philosophy is interesting
ok your loss
not exactly, philosophy simply presents you with other ways of thinking and the philosophers try to convince you through proofs but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to believe them. also philosophy is not only about moral beliefs/religious beliefs but other things as well
a big part of philosophy is epistemology which is basically what is real and what is not real
there’s another thing involving the mind-body problem which is whether your consciousness is your soul, brain, or mind
as well as other arguments like fundamental rights of a human being, whether or not people have value, things like that. and that is only the beginning
I don’t know a lot about philosophy since I haven’t read many philosophers also I haven’t taken many classes on it. but you should read Hume and Kant to simply broaden your perspectives on life and stuff as well as Socrates/Plato/Aristotle(they kinda blend together)
also if you read Plato you can see that a lot of his words are similar to the ideals of Christianity
same with Kant, who is very conservative and believes that humans have intrinsic value
