re//: I don’t think she was fully eggbound, she could still pøøp, the egg was just stopping large amounts of food from passing out her stomach. if we’d have left it and done nothing, it would have grown and she probably would have become properly eggbound, causing a large faeces build inside her :’’)
we did actually inquire about spaying her, or what we could do instead. the vet said we could get implants, which are out inside them and realise hormones that inhibit/stop the smexy hormones, although because birds have a very high metabolism they don’t last that long. a strong £200 implant that lasts over a year in dogs would last only a few months in a bird. they said we could have her uterus removed, but that would require surgery and her being under anaesthetic which can be very dangerous if it’s longer than 45mins bc of the way they breathe
