Also, overcast is the best lighting because it doesn't make either the shadows or the light outside too saturated. Sunny days are the bane of a photographer's existence. 'cause then you have to deal with glare, silhouettes, your own shadow getting in the photo, bad lighting in general, etc.
I also really enjoy photography. I remember once several years ago I entered a photography contest and won first...but the prize was a book about photography (it should have been obvious, I mean, it was a library photography contest). I already own like 10 books about photography, and I already owned that book as well. :/
Both art pieces and photography must pay heed to composition tricks like the rule of thirds, sequencing, perspective, repetition in 3s, framing within the image, etc. In photography it's just harder to create these things since changing that requires a lot of setup. Most photographers rely on luck, location, and preparation for luck. The science behind things like camera obscura is really cool, too! Dude, the fact that cameras work at all is suuuuper cool!
