I remember situations like this happening a lot when I was younger and it definitely sĆ¹cksā Iām sorry to hear this :( I wish I can guarantee you that your relationship with your parents in this aspect will improve. It definitely can- I was lucky enough for my parents to stop setting higher standards for me than my brother- but I would be lying if i said it was definite. i do have some advice that might help though. at the end of the day, you have to remember that your parents are humans and theyāre going to have opinions. now, does that mean their opinions are going to be right? absolutely not. no respect to your parents, but maybe you didnāt get into accelerated. okay, so? you studied hard and got into honors which is something you should definitely proud of. I know itās easier said than done, but you shouldnāt base your value and your capabilities on someoneās opinions- that arenāt even based on facts might i add- regardless if theyāre your parents. Because like I said before, your parents are still human. Theyāre going to have their opinions and theyāre going to be wrong sometimes. Iād say use that doubt and false image of you to prove them wrongā well further wrong.
Getting into honors is amazing!! You should be proud despite what your parents think. There will always be someone above and below you. Donāt be too hard on yourself when you donāt meet your parentsā expectations. Only you know how hard you worked.
