We watched this in science today just to get a good perspective on how complicated the human genome is, but it was so much more to me. About in the middle of the talk, I realized how special we are. That sounds super cliche and ridiculous, but I mean it. What was it, like almost 300,000 pages of code? That makes us unique? If there's a god, how much thought went into creating each and every one of us? You're the only person in the entire universe with that same genetic code. Only you. You were created with a purpose. You weren't a mistake. You have the precious gift of life- please do not take that for granted. Life is tough. Life is tough! It's never going to stop being tough. But you can't give up. Giving up is just wasting a life. A code. Something that was randomly generated, with the help of your parents, and it made you you. You! It's you! Without you, what are you? That code made your brain. The way you think. The way you see things. I'll bet most of you are trying to figure things out for yourself. Whether that's your gender, your sexuality, your purpose, your beliefs... that's okay! You will, I promise. Or you won't! And that's okay too. Just don't give up, okay? Look, here's the secret. Hormones. They're going crazy right now. You're growing- you're becoming you! Don't you want to see who that is? Just hang in there! You'll thank yourself in the long run, trust me. You are unique. You are you. Never forget that. 💕
