this is completely off topic but

when I was little, I had this book with a bunch of fairy tales in it ( some of which might be original)

and there was this one story about a mermaid who stayed with a human family one night after befriending the daughter and basically feeling ignored by her other friends

she goes back the next morning because she misses her home but I think she and the human girl agree to meet up and stay friends

I’m not sure when the book came out , I think in the 80s at least? because for some reason I can remember them having phones

also the family was a mother and her daughter if you were wondering
