eh idk,it depends of how much you idolize them—example:if you idolize someone but you're aware they're human and that they're not a reincarnation of Jesus Christ and you don't think everything they do is perfect I think it's fine but if it's like a weird idolization i think nOpe
Admiring people is an invaluable and necessary part of growing as a person, especially in childhood and adolescence. However, there's a distinction to be drawn between role models/mentors/great friends and idols; idols being individuals who's flaws we diminish or ignore, or who's positive traits we have largely projected onto them. Think celebrities. This is totally normal, but it can never be honest. Though an idol's merit is partially imagined, they can serve the same role as a role model/mentor/great friend, making idolization not just healthy or unhealthy. It's messy. Problems arise in conflict between perception and reality, especially in the idol failing to meet expectations. Root of all heartache, right? The most healthy option is to attempt to imagine one another as complex individuals that we can always learn from and love but never fully understand. That's no reason to stop trying, though. ❤️️
