Okay, so the topic was ‘are viruses living or non living?’
There has been much debate over the years as to if a virus is truly alive or not. They were at first thought of as poisons, then as lifeforms, then biological chemicals, and are considered to be in the grey area between living and nonliving. Unlike most living organisms, viruses are unable to execute the chemical reactions for life. Instead, a virus will embed genetic material into a host cell in order to live and multiply. A virus may not be considered alive, yet it always has the potential for life. And as much as it has the potential for life, it also has the potential to be destroyed. When a virus has infected a host cell, it has reached its potential and become alive. But without a host cell, a virus cannot operate as a living organism.
thank you zoey!! (p.s. I got most of the words from a thesaurus)
