I'm drawing something similar to it, but I don't need it anymore
Thank you so much for venting to me! (I know that sounds weird but I'm just glad I'm not the only one who randomly vents to people on here). And I'm happy to say that I can, for the most part, relate to your situation. I play clarinet and I got my braces on a few months into playing it (my braces are off now but I still remember them!). I know that braces and clarinet don't really have many issues together but I can see how they would hinder your trumpet playing. First of all, I don't think you should quit band. Doing band is one of the best decisions I have made in my life and I'm a huge band enthusiast. Trumpet may be harder with braces but I think it's definitely a challenge you can pursue! Even if you don't get first chair or second chair it won't be the end of the world. In sixth grade everybody thought I was extremely talented and really good at clarinet which made me really happy. In seventh grade we started chair testing and that's when my self esteem dropped. I got third chair which I know isn't horrible but I knew I could've beat both of the people ahead of me. Both of the people who beat me are no longer part of my schools band. I had to stay third chair all year but I tried not to let that disappoint me too much. In eighth grade (last year) I did get first chair and now I'm one of six freshmen to get into advanced band for next year. But regardless of my life, I really do think you should stick with it. It doesn't matter what chair you get, as long as you enjoy band. Without band, I would be a gloomy soul. I do band all year long, all of the time. Besides, braces are a temporary thing, and it will be hard at first but you can do it! I couldn't play for a week in sixth grade because of my braces. Really, what I'm trying to say is that if you like band, then stick with it. I probably dragged this on way too long 😂
^Okay, that was longer than expected.........
