i think of different personality traits, strengths and weaknesses, interests and hobbies, things like that. sometimes i like to take pieces of my own or other people’s personalities

I like patterning characters off of people I know irl or ofc since I do fanfiction I’ve already got characters sorta pre-made. but yeah just thinking about other people can help even if your not directly modeling the character after them

but i guess the key to making realistic characters is making sure they have realistic flaws, bad habits etc and anything else that would add depth to a person or maybe some things u dont agree with uk just to make every character different and unique
