My sixth grade Sunday school teacher always made the whole grade say 'I am special because God loves me.' No one took it seriously, myself included. It felt silly and narcissistic. That teacher was a veteran, a scholar, and someone with a passion for helping and teaching. He tells us shocking stories. Ge's seen many men die and many babes born. He loved people. I know him better than I did once, and I still think that may be the most noble thing he's ever said to me.
